Heya guys and gals. I Found some awesome images of vintage signs. I've always been attracted to the geometric shapes and colors of The Mid Century style.... and I just adore retro, neon signage from that era. It reminds me of the show Mad Men with women in wiggle dresses and men smoking cigars and drinking whiskey in cheap hotels and little diner's with formica tables off the side of the road. I do love that Genre. Here are some vintage, retro signage that I found that echos that era.

I know it wasn't much of a post this time, all visual which isn't bad. You can also stop by my post about Mid Century wall art. This photo below I took myself.... do you recognize it? It's from the movie "Dazed and Confused". It was filmed here in Austin, Texas. I thought it would be a nice addition to the post. If you haven't seen the movie it's pretty much a cult classic now.

Hope you've enjoyed my post. There will be more Mid Century Posts in the future so stay tuned.

Feeling Whimsical....

So I decided to jump on the floral crown band wagon. I went with Mandy to Hobby Lobby and picked out some beautiful silk flowers.... which are very expensive buy the way. Who knew? I bought the floral tape and went home and started to construct my crown. I didn't need to buy any wire, the stems on my flowers where long enough to just bend around into a circle and tape together. It's pretty simple and straight forward, I don't believe that there is a tutorial needed, I really just wanted to show the out come.

Matt took these photos for me... what a sweet heart. I was so excited because the light was just right. This is in front of our "Passion Vine".... it is so beautiful in the summer with bright purple blooms. It was growing all the way up to the top of our roof and the side of our gate. It's a very aggressive growing vine but oh so beautiful and come in array or colors.

I was so inspired by the images that I posted earlier about the flower crowns..... I hope this inspires you to make your own and take beautiful photos. I would love to see them. I can't wait to make more for this summer.

rain rain go away......

I'm so excited that I've been posting more "what I wore" images. I do love to play dress up. Today was a rainy, gloomy type of day but that didn't stop me from documenting my new look. I hardly ever wear pants. I just feel so uncomfortable in them... maybe it's because I've gained weight or I just hate the feeling of something snug around my waist. These jeans are pretty stretchy... a little too stretchy. I have to throw them in the dryer before I wear them to shrink them a tad. They are my "go to" jeans right now. This is the Instagram photo that Matt took for me. I almost always use the filter "Earlybird"... I find that it just warms up the images just enough but not too much.

Pretty much everything I'm wearing is Thrifted except for the jeans. The jeans I purchased at Old Navy a few years ago.

I scored big time on this plaid top and the hat.

The Mister bought me this lovely harmonica necklace from So La.

Here's a detail of my booties. I found them at Goodwill.

I'm trying to experiment with more color. I've recently been wearing red lipstick and red nails. I love a punch of color. More on that later. Hope you've enjoyed this post. Comment's are always welcome!

Our weekend away.....

The Mister and I and our little lovie Lucy are hitting the road this weekend. We are headed to Port Aransas,  our favorite get away place. It's supposed to be in the 70's all weekend so it should be amazing! We can't wait for our feet to touch warm sand.....I  think Lucy is secretly missing it as well.
This is a much needed mini vacation for us. Things have been especially hard for my side of the family at the moment.... my Dad was diagnosed with Leukemia a little over a year ago and he remained at stage zero, which means at they stage they just monitor him and take his blood on a monthly bases. Now he has recently progressed to stage two and is starting Chemotherapy. It's really hard on our family since he was also let go right before he was diagnosed..... then later followed his Mother's (Grandma's) death. It's been one thing after another for us and it isn't getting any easier especially with me being ill for the past few years as well. I've finally found balance with the medication that I'm taking for seizures and am slowly starting to work out again and get back into shape the way I was before. All of this has really made our family realize how important our relationships are. It has brought us closer together and even though I'm far away in Austin and my family is in Ohio I still call them on a regular bases to check up on them and see how Dad is feeling.
I know this is a lot to take in and I apologize, this isn't supposed to be a sad post. It's about being able to get away from all the hubbub of day to day life and spending time with the ones you love and creating moments together. I'm excited to get to spend 4 days with my wonderful and very supportive husband who has been there with me through it all. So as you are reading this I will be soaking up the sun, laying on the beach with a nice adult beverage, with Matt and Lucy by my side. I will return with many photo's and good stories to share.

La la la Liebster Award

I was nominated for my 3rd Liebster Award! I'm not trying brag, I just think it's funny. It's very flattering that people like my blog and that take an interest in  what I'm interested as well. This time I was selected by the lovely CC Leona of thattallgirl2. So the deal is is that you have to list 11 facts about yourself, answer the 11 questions given to you, ask 11 new questions for the bloggers you nominate for the award, choose 9 bloggers with 200 followers or less, go to each blog and let them know that you nominated them, and lastly thank the nominator and link the post back to their website.

Hmmmm so 11 facts about me? This is harder than I thought.... I'll keep it short and sweet.

1. I'm turning 32 February 28th! I can't believe it..... I don't feel like I'm 32, I still don't know what the
    hell I'm doing.
2. I graduated from a small Art School in Columbus, Ohio with a BFA in Still Based Media Studies.... which is
a fancy title for "Photography". Ha!
3. I've been with my husband Matt for over 11 years now and have been married for 6! We are best friends.
4. I run my own small little crochet business "Nothing but a Pigeon" making Amigurumi toys and mounted
animal heads. They do pretty well.
5. My husband and I don't have children but a small little Min Pin named Lucy... she is the love of our lives.
6. I wasn't a geek in High School but was bullied by all the "popular girl's". My High School was literally like
the movie "Mean Girl's." It sucked.
7. I'm published in a book "Hat Shop" featuring my headband pattern.
8. My favorite food right now is seaweed salad... I'm addicted.
9. I always remember my dreams.
10. I was in two commercials for a local photography store in Columbus, Ohio. They were pretty lame.
11. I don't like sweets but cheesecake is my weakness.

11 questions:
1. What is your favorite part about blogging?

I have to say my favorite part would be coming up with the post idea's and taking the photo's while I'm
out exploring. I love to take pictures and upload them and edit them, guess that's just the photographer it me.
Actually posting them on blogspot is alright. But I'm more of a conceptual type of gal.

2. If you could only wear one color your whole life, what would it be?

Mustard yellow. Yellow is a happy color and is bright like my personality.

3. Who is your favorite designer and why?

I was never one to get caught up in big time labels... I likes what I likes.

4. Whats three words you would use to describe your personal style?

    Whimsical, playful, quirky.

5. Do you believe someones style reflects their personality?

To a degree but not always, people tend to surprise me on a daily basis.

6. Do you have any pets? If not, do you want any pets?

I do! I have a little Chocolate Miniature Pinscher, her name is Lucy.

7. What type of music do you like? and what is your favorite song?

I'm partial to "Indie Music", right now my favorite song is "Revenge" (feat. The flaming Lips) by Danger
   Mouse  & Sparklehorse.

8. Where would you love to travel?

I would hit up Prague first.

9. Do you like where you're living now? why?

I do! Matt and I moved here over 4 years ago to get away from the hubbub of life in Columbus, Ohio.
The weather is great here. I do miss Ohio in the Fall though.

10. What is one thing you want to accomplish in the next 10 years?

Matt and I want to purchase a vintage caravan and rehab it and travel.

11. If someone gave you 1 million dollars what would you do with it?

Quit my daytime job. Move my Parents to Austin and set them up in a house so that they can retire, pay for
all  my Dad's medical bills, buy a caravan and travel with Matt. Oh and we would pay off all our debt as
well and I would also donate money to help abused and neglected animals.

Pop goes the Red!

Hello Lovies.... I've been trying to wear red lipstick for awhile now to add a punch of color to my facial and it seems to be working out just swimmingly. I've always been a fan of a dash of unexpected color... such as hair bows or tights. Whatever it may be it's bound to bring a smile to my face and other's. Here are some really cute ways to bring a zing of color to your wardrobe.

I saw this cutie pie and had to re-post it. Unfortunately I found this on Pinterest and don't know who to link it back to to give credit where credit's due. I hate that.... never the less we can still Ooooo and Ahhhhh over her nicely displayed red props and wears. Check out those pom pom balls and did you notice the tiny bottle of Coco Channel perfume around her neck?

This would be a show stopper.... imagine walking in to a room wearing this frock. All eye's on the beautiful girl wearing the red dress. This has confidence written all over it.

I'm flipping out over this darling skull and cross sweater!

Shut the front door! That is the red front door... lol. This little lady manages to pull off the scarf and the red lipstick and conveniently finds a red door to pose in front off. Kudos my friend.

This outfit manages to be super cute without looking too "Minnie Mouse" The only issue I have with this outfit is the patent leather clutch and shoes. Patent leather looks too "squeakie" to me.

Swoon! These shoes are super sexy without looking hookerish.
I don't do heals but can deal with wedges....and would definitely do these. Holla!

Simply elegant. I don't have much else to say about this look.... it's breathtaking.

Red skinnies always work. I like the way she pairs them with understated nude shoes and top. If you're going to go bold then the other pieces should be muted. Same rules apply for lips and eyes... one or the other.

I threw this in there just because it was cute. Awwwwww.

This girly has it down! What a nice way to say "look at me" without shouting it.
A few key pieces make all the difference.

Red lips... red bobble. Love the birdies and the peter pan collar.

Just as simple as a red belt.

Well this is appropriate considering Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Adorbs.

I'm loving this look. Cute and cuddly layered sweaters with a fierce heal. Meow! I could really go for a red mini in my wardrobe.

This is super simple and tre' cool. I don't think there is anyway to go wrong with this pairing.

Lastly, this outfit is right up my alley. Simple, and not too loud. I love the black and white dress with the black flats.... excellent for running around town. She just added a basic cardi and Bam! Cute tat and cute bangs... love it all.

I hope you enjoyed my color pop post.... have a happy Friday everyone.

My life is finally complete! I found a sea salt spray that actually works with my hair! I haven't been able to find a product that works for me since John Freida's sea salt spray was discontinued. I'm so super excited that I had to share the news! I washed my hair as usual this morning and towel dried it (don't comb your hair) leave it messy and spray in a bunch o' magical sea salt and watch the magic happen. I used my blow dryer a bit but just to dry my locks partially.... let the rest air dry and voila!

Hello sexy, undone, beach hair.... I love you!
Pictures to follow.

Ermagawwwwwd! I flipped my shiz when I saw this DIY Valentine's Day card on Design Sponge. I'm used to seeing V Day print ables and such but this was is extra special because it's hand made. Everyone knows that hand made gifts are better. I'm a sucker for DIY's and this one was too cute to pass up... so I thought I would share this delightful idea with you all.

That's right folks... that's an Ampersand. That little do dad up above is derived from the
 Latin phrase "per se".

You can shop around at local vintage stores for old cards as well as flora and fauna books...
I also provided some awesome links for easy print outs.

Snip snip snip....

Glue and voila..... you have a keepsake card that you can frame. Isn't it splendid?

Personalize it with photo's or nick knacks.

Here are a bunch of great links to printables!!!

Acre Yawn

I'm so excited that I can't contain myself. This past weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Haley Barnes and Chase Weinacht of Acre Yawn. The Mister and I never get out so it's a HUGE deal when we do. I'm no music critic by any means... I likes what I likes. The second I heard Haley and Chase's soft melody I was delighted.  All I know is that Acre Yawn's music makes me happy and giddy, like I'm laying in the grass on a summer's day with the sun warming my skin. Haley's soft, sweet delicate voice is oh so lovely as well as Chase's.... is it bad to say that a man's voice is sweet? I could listen to them all day.... it's the kind of music that takes away all the rough and tough grind of one's day. It takes me to my happy place and instantly relaxes my soul. I want to wear a white cotton dress and swing from a tire swing on my Mister's parent's farm while Acre Yawn plays a theme song to my life.
When I hear music that I love it moves and transforms me.... I'm so lucky to have been in the right place at the right time. I'm hoping that I didn't make too bad of an impression for I was drunk on their music.... and champagne. Literally, I had been drinking on an empty stomach. I was delighted how gracious Chase and Haley were. Not only does Haley have a "sweet voice", but is indeed sweet to talk to both. Both Chase and Haley were happy to shake my hand and conversate with me for a spell as I made a fool out of myself. I love nice, gracious talented people. I digress..... with all this said I would love to pass on Haley and Chase of Acre Yawn's beautiful melodies for all of you to hear.

Life is a Beach....

A few weekends ago the Mister and I went to the coast to escape the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. We try to make it a habit to visit every 6 months or so. This visit was way over due. We had been wanting to get away for some time and just decided to go for it. It's only a four hour drive so it's do-able as a weekend getaway. Mustang Island is located in Port Aransas, Texas. It's a big tourist attraction during spring break so we plan our vacations either before or after then. Does that mean we are getting old..... the fact that we hate being around college kids that party to the break of dawn?

Mustang Island is a National State Park so it's very well kept and maintained. We used to camp on the beach in the past but now Matt's good friend Bruce let's us stay at his and his wife's lovely beach house. It's amazing... I love it there. It really feels like home when we stay there.

The sunset's are gorgeous at dusk. We saw the sun go down after we at at Kody's ... a new restaurant that we have past many o' times but never took a chance till this last time. It was pretty delicious.
All the sea food you can choose from. I had sea scallops and Matt had Mussel's.

It's so funny that Texas can feel like a Tropical Paradise.... I mean it's Texas! It changes slowly as you drive into Port A and then you have to cross on a Ferry to get to Mustang Island. It's so neat to take the ferry in. We always take Lucy with us and roll down the windows so she can see all the gulls and Pelicans. It feels magical.

Okay, so this is fake. I just thought it was funny that they had a giant shark's jaw and conch shell displayed in their store. It was a local shell store. We always try to get a lil' token from a store before we leave to remind us of each trip we took no matter how cheesy it is. Actually, the cheesier the better.

At the local shell shop.

The Marina is so pretty. It's so interesting to go and see the various types of boats. This was the first time we ventured out to the docks to check it out.

Here I am at the Marina on my tip toes trying to be taller.

Every time The Mister and I go to Port A we see Dolphins.... it never fails. As soon as we get on the Ferry we see then jumping in and out of the water playing around and having a good time. It's so cute because they love to swim along the boats and race them.

This was the craziest thing that I have seen since I've vacationed in Port A. This picture doesn't even begin to capture how enormous this oil rig was. It was so massive even the locals were mesmerized.

We get a new umbrella every time we come out here.... not because we want to, it's because we always leave them open in our back yard and the wind takes them out. This one we have managed to keep for two visits now. Love the bright colors.

We are those people that walk up and down the beach searching for those perfect shells. One year
(a while back) we found a crazy amount of sand dollars that were oh so tiny and perfect. Since then we haven't found any like that. We did manage to find two tiny sea horses which is crazy rare!

The beach was super clear this year. The last couple of years the beach had tons of seaweed on it... which I didn't mind but it was nice to walk freely and not have to step on tangled up nasty stuff.

Alas, our trip had to come to an end. We actually took off early in the morning on the last day because I was feeling slightly ill, but other than that it was a memorable time.

We said goodbye to the flowering trees and the sand dunes and headed on back to Austin, Texas. At first we were sad to leave but then once we got home we were glad to be in our own house and sleep in our own bed. I think Lucy was tuckered out as well. Hope you've enjoyed our mini beach trip!

valentine's day garland and plushie hearts!

Hey all you crafty hookers! I have a wonderful Valentine's Day Garland DIY today! I found this pattern designed by Sarah Anderson on The Saturday Evening Post and just fell in love with this cute and fun Garland. It's pretty easy for beginners and a great gift for V Day. Sarah has an awesome website Sarahndipities! You should check it out right away..... it's a REALLY good site!

So here it is the finished product and here is my cute little neighbor Olivia. She just got back from Ballet class and wanted to help me model the pattern.

I also threw in some heart Amigurumi  plushies that are cute gifts as well. These are also really easy. I made up my own pattern but you can download this free pattern at Fresh Stitches. Fresh Stitches is a totally cool website created by Stacy.... to learn more about Stacy check out her about me page here.

I ended up giving the Heart Garland to my dear friend Mandy Bustamante of Nestled in Nostalgia. It's hanging on our cubicle that we share at work. We are cubicle buddies.

Here is a close up of the Amigurumi hearts. Amigurumi is the Japanese word for meaning a crochet or knitted, stuffed toy.

Here's sweet, little Olivia holding the tiniest blue heart. I hope you guys enjoyed this post. I'm trying to put more crochet projects into DIY's. I want to try to show more of what I actually love doing. Crocheting is a passion that has turned into a side business for me. I actually do pretty well I suppose. To see more of my little designs you can check out my website on Big Cartel. I would love to hear back from other hookers about their patterns and recent crochet ventures.

ZoCalo

The other day I had off work so I visited Matt and took him out to lunch at one of our favorite spots ZoCalo. It's a super chill place with amazing food that is reasonably priced. I love the atmosphere as well. There is indoor and out door seating... both are quaint. It's been unusually warm this winter so we decided dine outdoors. It was super sunny that day... making it extra warm.

I wanted to show off my new Mint stockings paired with my new Mint clutch. Unfortunatly I injured my heal so I had to wear flats.... which is what I normally wear but I originally wanted to wear some black t-strap wedges. Oh well....life goes on.

Check out my sock bun! They actually do work! I bought the bun thingy at Target and tried
it out earlier that week and it was a big hit.

I love this dress, I got it from Plato's Closet. I love it because the little polka dots look like little galaxy's. Look, you can almost see my birdie tattoo's.

The chip's there are so scrumptious! They are super thick and crispy. Yum.

They have really refreshing Hibiscus tea there that I love. Oh hey look..... my Mint bag.

The colors are so vibrant... it feels like you are on vacation.

Here's the outdoor seating. I love it it because you are surrounded by tropical plants. I love living in Austin....
it makes me happy to see Palm Tree's everyday.

I want these planters sooooo bad. I bet I could take some regular pots and spray paint them and hang them up. Matt is finishing up the screened in porch and I'm looking for some new ways to decorate. This would be awesome.

We both ordered Tacos de Carnitas
Your choice of slow roasted pulled pork or slow cooked green chile chicken with pico de piña
and salsa verde.

It was such a beautiful day... I'm glad that I had the day off and I could take The Mister out to lunch. It was much needed because he has been under a lot of stress. Poor guy. However we are looking forward to many more sunny days in the future forecast.

My life on Instagram

"Janet... you rock my world." - Cliff Poncier

$

Hey guys....just reminiscing about old school movies from back in the day. During my awkward teen years which took place starting in the early 90's and seemed to drag on forever.... with that being said...
"I was awkward" was a little bit of an understatement. Not like how it's now "cool" to be a little queer like Kristen Stewart but chubby awkward. I wore culottes and skorts and had super short boy hair.
(I was obsessed with Wynonna Ryder's hair) It wasn't till I went onto high school that I grew into my awkwardness and thinned out but still remained an outcast. I wasn't the "cool kid" but I wasn't a "loser" either. If I where a character in a John Huges flick I would be Molly Ringwald from "Sixteen Candles". I wasn't a geek and but I wasn't dating the "popular guy" Jake Ryan either. I just drifted through school hoping not to get noticed. It's this reason why I love Director Cameron Crowe. The majority of his movies involve teenage angst..... which I adore now that I'm older..... it wasn't so fun back in the day.

"Singles" is one of my all time favorite movies.... not just by Cameron Crowe but of all time. I used to escape real life by living vicariously through others. I would pop in a movie and leave all my worries behind. I can't tell you how much I adore this movie. I became big into the grunge scene when it was cool around "94" and love Stoned Temple Pilots, Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Sound Garden. (which by the way... Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell make appearances in the movie) I shopped at thrift stores (which I still do to this day) and prayed for a "real" pair of bright yellow Dr. Martin's.... which I never got. I had a knock off pair of combat boots and lived in those things. I wore them with skirts, shorts, jeans.... you name it. I was super pissed when my best friend Stephanie Ernst got her parents to buy her a real pair. I'm still pissed to this day.

Here's the awesomely cool apartment's all the character's lived in.....in famous Capitol Hill, Seattle. The story is about four young 20 something neighbor's living in the same building complex together. It follows their individual lives and their relationships, job's etc.... Cliff, Janet, Steve and Debb live in the same Apartment but in different buildings. Cliff and Janet have an on again off again relationship due to the fact that Cliff is unable to commit. Janet is a 20 something coffee shop girl just trying to find her way in the world and a stable, loving relationship along the way.

“The Kiss by the Hôtel de Ville,” taken in Paris in 1950. (Photo: Robert Doisneau)

I love how this Movie Poster emulates the famous image that Cliff so dearly loves (as seen above)

Kyra Sedgwick plays Linda, Cliff's love interest.

David Bailey: Tonight I'll be the super me.
Steve Dunne: What if the super you meets the super her and the super her rejects the super you?
David Bailey: Then it's no problem.
Steve Dunne: Uh-huh. Why?
David Bailey: Because it was never you, it was just an act. I live my life like a French movie, Steve.

It's funny how style keeps repeating itself. Just think..... tights with cut off's and boots are back. Flannel is back. This post is not only about my love for the movie but my favorite character Janet, played by the beautiful Bridget Fonda. I wanted to live Janet's life so badly! I couldn't wait till I was old enough to have my own place and have a boyfriend to come over and visit me. Of course he HAD to be like Cliff, played by the ever sexy Matt Dillon. Minus the jerk aspect... he ends up alright in the end though. I heard that Matt Dillon doesn't act... that when he play's a role he is playing himself.... his usual character's were generally troubled youth roles.

Cliff's band (Citizen Dick) is a struggling grunge band trying to breakout in Seattle.

Janet Livermore: I've always been able to do this, break up with someone and never look back. Being alone: there's a certain dignity to it.

I love this scene.... SPOILER ALERT!!!After Janet ends her relationship with Cliff and she starts livin' her life for herself and realizes that she doesn't need him anymore, that they are just better off as friends....Oh how I couldn't wait to be an adult.
I used to sit in my bedroom with the lights off except for a cheap blue light that I had purchased from Odd Lots (which is now Big Lots). I would lay on my bunk bed in a bra and boxer shorts
and listen to Mazzy Star and dream of what life would be like when I was older.... when I had the opportunity to do whatever I wanted when I wanted. I was such a dramatic teen.... the whole world was against me and I was just struggling to remain afloat.
P.S. Janet is reading Fountainhead... it's next on my to read list.

Cliff Poncier: Look, Janet you know I see other people still. You do know that don't you?
Janet Livermore: You don't fool me.
Cliff Poncier: Janet, I could not be fooling you less.

One of the best and last scenes in the movie is the elevator scene. Cliff realises that he has made a huge mistake and that Janet is a strong and desirable woman. After failing to try to get her back he sees the error of his way and wants her to at least stay in his life if only as friends.

Cliff: Hey.
Janet: Hey. Going out?
Cliff: Yep. You?
Janet: Yeah.
Cliff: That’s a very nice hat, and I don’t mean that in an Eddie Haskell kind of way.
Janet: Thanks.
[beat]
[Janet sneezes]
Cliff: Bless you.
Janet: Thank you.
[beat]
Cliff: Does everybody go through this?
Janet: No, I think, just us.

I love Janet's style in the movie. I used to try to emulate it....those hats! How adorable.

In this scene Steve, played by Campbell Scott is another resident living in the building and is also friends with Janet and Cliff. Steve has recently been let go from his job and has become a hermit. Janet
(being the good friend and neighbor) comes over to check up on Steve and finds that he is not in good shape. A hug turns into a kiss and things get awkward.

Janet Livermore: People need people, Steve. It has nothing to do with sex. OK, maybe 40 percent. 60 percent. Forget it.

Steve: In a parallel universe, we’re probably one scorching couple.
Janet: But in this one … neighbors.

Janet's clothes are classic 90's through and through. Love the dress with boots and the leather jacket.
Here are some alternatives to her look.

A visit to San Marcos

I recently visited my long time good friend Anna. She moved down to Texas about a year after me and the Mister made the move and is now engaged to her Mister Tellis. They moved to San Antonio and Anna has recently accepted a Flight Attendant position with Southwest Airlines. It's totally up her alley because she loves to travel. So Anna and I spend our Saturday morning shopping at Strut.....
(one of my favorite local stores) and a new found toy store. It was a pretty good day. Hot, but good.

So this is the Strut in San Marcos... which I've never been in before but I'm assuming they have the same items that the other Strut has in Austin. I am loving this teal, lace dress.

I'm addicted to pretty, short dresses. I'm a short girl so short dresses fit me nicely... they actually hit me right above the knee so they really aren't "short". Lol I should have bought this dress. I'm working on building the muscle back up in my arms so hopefully by this summer I will feel confident enough to wear tanks and sleeveless tops.

I'm really into "flowey" blouses right now. I love how light they are in the summer and then you can always layer them in the fall and winter.

I seriously love this blouse but again I'm not confident enough to show off my arms yet. I'm really self conscious of my body right now.

Here's Anna. She was on a mission to buy black pants to dress up  for a night out and dress business casual for her new job training.

I'm over the big sunglasses look and into small cat eyed ones. The black style towards the top middle are super cute.

Belts belt.... glorious belts.

Talk about "statement jewelry".

This one would be cute tucked under a silky collared blouse.

I love cuff bracelets but they don't look good on me. I have short thick fore arms and they just look silly.

Here we are at the toy store. I really wish I knew the name of the store but it was just random that we found it and popped in. Look at these cute pin cushions.

I love these "nifty notes". I wanted to buy the "Excuses and Lies" book. Check out the other titles.

I love "gag gifts". These "Grow your own" toys are so funny. I love the grow your own gnome.

I love these large Mexican Bingo Prints. I have a set at home that I have out on display but an enlarged version would be nice to bring some color to our house.

I love these goofy "Kat's". They are really "piggy banks". I 'm not a fan of real cats but the black one is always welcome in my house.

Need a little Budda in your life? These would be super fun on top of my dresser drawer.

There was so much to look at there. Bright colors and fun, loud bobbles.

Lucky Cat.

I love having random things in my kitchen and cute platters to serve food off of.

Love these for Nick knacks.

Buddhist Prayer Flags.

These are so cool. I really want to get a bunch of these for Matt and our backyard.

Hello Kitty Crazeballs!!!

Remember these? Monchhichi.

Matt loves kites! There were soooo many! He could go crazy in this store.

Plastic toys hanging from the ceiling.

This is 2nd best to the Ryan Gosling collaring book.

Shells everywhere.

I love silly gag gifts!

Poop and doo doo toys.

They even sold vintage toys like this and old school robots and whined up toys.

Rice paper lamps.... these would look so good in our backyard for a party.

Anna's new obsession is Owls. This Owl puppet was hard core. It moved it's head and blinked it's eyes and then I decided I don't like puppets because they are freaky.

They had a whole section dedicated to cute Japanese toys and bags.

That about wraps it up for my day visit to San Marcos with Anna. I had fun and will miss her during her 6 week training. I need to drag Matt there to see the toy store and just have a fun day outside of Austin. I also can't wait till it gets hot again and we can go tubing!

xoxo

All Hail to the Kale

Hey guys! I'm crazy for Kale chips! They are so yummy and super easy to make. The first time I made them... the Mister ate them all by himself. I brought some into Mandy the next day at work and she nibbled on them too. They are the healthy alternative to potato chips. Check it out.....

All you have to do is just grab some regular Kale (don't get the pre cut baggie kind). Make sure you wash them and pat them dry. Pre heat your oven to 350. Place your Kale on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil and either sea salt or Kosher salt (don't use regular table salt because it's too salty). I like to add sesame seeds as well. You can get them in the Asian Isle at HEB or at any Asian Market. Bake for about 10-15 minutes or until crispy. Serve and eat immediately. These guys don't save well, they will get all soggy on you.
So give it a try next time you feel like having something salty like fries or chips, this can be your
healthy alternative.
